Princess Elise
Character: Elise
Series/Fandom: Sonic the Hedgehog (Next-Gen)
Original or Alternate: Original
Housing: Ast-Pente
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Appearance: With smooth, cream-colored skin, high cheek bones, a small nose, full lips, and narrowly-shaped eyebrows, Elise fits the exact image of a delicate princess. Even her azure-colored eyes reflect purity and innocence, for she barely ever bothers to hide the emotions swirling through her heart. However, unlike the typical fairytale princess, her hair is a red-brown hue of light maroon and falls just above her shoulders.
Her body is lithe and slender in nearly every aspect, and she wears a billowing, white mini-dress to complement this. Her gown is slightly off-the-shoulder and tightly hugs the curves of her chest, while lace and feathers gently line the edges of the hem. A shiny, saffron ‘x’ runs across the outline of the upper part of her attire, while long, pearl-white gloves adorn her hands. For her feet, she wears light, gray-white high heels over dark, tan leggings, and, around her neck, she has a silver necklace with several, tiny gems dangling from it. Finally, on the sides of her head, there is a small, silver, wing-shaped clip – with a feather attached to them – that holds back a few strands of her hair, partly revealing her ears.
Personality: Despite her frail appearance, Elise is actually a kind, strong-hearted girl with an immense amount of determination. When there is a duty to be completed, she will put the utmost of her effort into accomplishing it. She isn’t easily intimidated, nor is she easily persuaded. Once she makes her decision, her heart is set upon keeping it no matter what – that isn’t to say that she’s stubborn, of course. She’s also reasonable and levelheaded, knowing how to keep her cool and speak diplomatically when the situation calls for it. However, as headstrong as she is, she isn’t very observant to her surroundings. At times, she can be one-track minded and is often fooled by genial facades or well-placed words. Moreover, she deeply values friendship and love, placing them both before her well-being, which can lead her to making irrational choices. In addition to this, Elise is rather reserved and quickly becomes flustered or embarrassed, especially in regards to someone she likes. Yet, although she’s shy with her feelings, she’s honest and doesn’t like to hold secrets. She trusts and forgives easily, almost to the point of being naïve. As a princess, she tends to see it as her duty to help others, and she often likes to lend a hand to whoever comes her way. She admires heroic qualities and, because of that, frequently listens to others’ advice. She longs to be a knowledgeable ruler of her kingdom, so she tries her best to keep improving her character. Yet, because of this duty, there are times she longs to be herself, disregarding all other obligations. This makes her adventurous and willing to try new things, including anything dangerous. Overall, Elise is merely a simple, young girl, who’s magnanimous and caring, seeing it as her responsibility – as a princess – to provide assistance to everyone with a warm, reassuring smile.
Abilities/Strengths: The only supernatural ability Elise holds is being able to make the one she touches as light as a feather, enabling the individual to travel across water and quicksand. Aside from this, she has no other magical strengths – instead, her primary asset lies within her heart and mind. Her will is sincere and genuine, while her values and beliefs are strong and unwavering. Generous and benevolent, she is also a good speaker, as she is very capable of speaking without arousing any offense.
Weaknesses: One of the most ostentatious vulnerabilities Elise has is the fact that she does not know a single move of self-defense. She reacts slowly and is easily scared stiff – literally. On a moment’s notice, she cannot think very quickly or intricately, which often lead to negative ramifications. Her trust is extremely quick to gain, and, because she feels she isn’t a very copacetic princess, is very compliable to those she cares about, including new acquaintances. Moreover, since her loves for others is so profoundly, she often places them before everyone else, sometimes causing her to make senseless and selfish decisions.
Notable Possessions: None
History: As a young girl, Elise’s mother had passed away, leading her father, the Duke of the kingdom of Soleanna, to conduct experiments on the supernatural being – Solaris – in order to travel to the past and see her again. At first, Solaris started out a mere flame, but it began to grow into an unstable force, eventually splitting into two forms, Iblis and Mephiles. With the magical Scepter of Darkness, the Duke managed to seal away Mephiles, but, unable to find a suitable vessel for Iblis, decided to use his daughter instead. After telling her not to cry lest Iblis be released, he dies. Years later, during the Festival of the Sun, Elise is prepared to complete the ceremony of honor for Solaris, when a man, who introduces himself as Doctor Eggman, appears and attempts to steal the Chaos Emerald in her possession. However, a blue hedgehog, Sonic, soon arrives and, taking Elise in his arms, dashes away from Eggman and his army of robots. After a long series of futile endeavors to steal the Emerald, Sonic finally succeeds in destroying Eggman’s ship and keeping him away from Elise. Yet, shortly after this is accomplished, Mephiles shows himself. With a single strike, he kills Sonic, and, overcome with grief and shock, Elise lets a single tear slip down her cheek. This summons forth Iblis, who promptly merges with Mephiles to form the villainous being, Solaris. As they proceed to destroy the world, Elise decides to find a way to resurrect Sonic. With the help of several others, she finally manages to gather the seven Chaos Emeralds. Using them, she brings Sonic back to life with a kiss, which also transforms him into a super, powered-up form. After Sonic manages to subdue Solaris (at least, temporarily), Elise and him use the Chaos Emeralds to travel to the past, to when Solaris was a mere flame. Gazing at it, Elise realizes that if she extinguishes the fire now, Solaris would never have existed, and neither would her meeting with Sonic. Having fallen in love with the blue-furred hero, she cries out that she doesn’t care what happens to the world, for she much rather be with him. To this, Sonic replies, “Just smile.” Recalling this as advice he had given her previously, Elise knew he meant that she had to accept that destroying Solaris was the right decision, even if all the consequences weren't to her liking. So, with tears in her eyes, she tentatively blows out the flame, destroying Solaris. Elise is then promptly returned to the present, where she is once more at the Festival of the Sun. As the celebration continues on peacefully, Sonic runs by, causing one of the feathers – attached to the princess’s hair – to detach and float away. Noticing this, Elise stops smiling, causing one of her attendants to ask if everything is alright. As her response, she says, “I’m fine. The wind just felt…familiar…somehow…”
Elise then resumes her cheerful disposition, but her last comments proves that her encounter with Sonic is not entirely forgotten - she still vaguely remembers the blue hedgehog.
